American Red Cross Volunteer Info

34728d.jpgInterested in volunteering with the American Red Cross for the local wildfires? Find out all the information you need to become a volunteer below.

We need volunteers over the next few weeks to assist with Disaster Relief for the Sayre/Sylmar Fires. Volunteers will assist in shelters, assess damage, help clients through casework, provide health and mental health services, and fulfill clerical office assignments.

The American Red Cross will train volunteers and assign them to the locations that request volunteers. If you are available to volunteer, please complete the following steps.

Step 1. Fill out contact and availability form. (Click here to open new window with form). Complete the form so that we can contact you about becoming a volunteer.

Step 2. Print and complete the following (4) forms to get registered as a Red Cross volunteer. In order to view the forms, you will need Adobe Reader which you can download here: Adobe Reader Download

  1. Disaster Relief Operation (DRO) Registration Form
  2. DRO Pre-Assignment Health Questionnaire Form
  3. Intellectual Property Agreement Form
  4. Code of Conduct Form

Step 3. After you have completed the contact info and your forms, you will be notified by a Red Cross representative of volunteer opportunities within 24 hours OR you can bring your forms to the Volunteer Intake Center during business hours from 9am-7pm. Here is the location:

New Client Casework Classes and Client Assistance Services Classes!!!

One of our current volunteer needs are Client Caseworker volunteers. Caseworkers work directly with those affected by the wildfires and are able to give referrals and assistance to them. If you would like to become a client caseworker, please attend one of the classes scheduled in the link below. Also see other classes we have for Client Assistant Services (CAS). This class will allow volunteers to enter data into our CAS system.

Volunteer Intake Center NOW OPEN!!!

We are fully ready to have new volunteers come into our Volunteer Intake Center (VIC) at the West Los Angeles District Office between the hours of 9am-7pm to receive an assignment. Please come to the VIC with your registration forms completed. You will complete your background check, receive a DRO orientation, be placed on a job assignment, and given an ID badge. Here is information about the VIC:

We still have our Client Casework Class open tomorrow at our South Bay District office. We are in current need of a lot of Caseworkers so we will be holding more classes on Friday morning and evening. We will post that information as soon as the class is scheduled.
