Red Cross Responds to Fire at Universal Studios
American Red Cross of Greater Los Angeles volunteers, including Mary Lewallen and Sandy Hanagami, provided snacks and drinks to firefighters battling a 3 ½ acre fire at the Universal Studios Hollywood backlot on June 1.
Multiple shifts of Red Cross workers were on-site at the blaze, which took 400 city and county firefighters more than 18 hours to douse.
The chapter’s Emergency and Disaster Response department responds to hundreds of disasters every year, assisting families with emergency needs and also feeding emergency workers through its canteen service.
