Mission of Red Cross

Established on Oct. 2, 1916, the American Red Cross of Greater Los Angeles is the second largest chapter in the nation. We serve more than 36 cities and a number of unincorporated areas, covering more than 1,600 square miles.
To reach a population of 6 million people, we have eight service centers located in communities around the Southland.
Chapter volunteers are prepared to respond around the clock, 365 days a year to assure that our services are provided when they are needed.
Chapter leadership is provided by a volunteer board of directors, elected from the communities served by the chapter.
